The AgriEMS project, developed within the Hazitek program framework, will enable quick and easy battery extraction and swapping in tractors, increasing their range and reducing downtime.

This development is part of the AgriEMS project (ZL-2025/00856), co-funded by the Basque Government through the Hazitek program and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The new system will allow discharged batteries to be removed and replaced within minutes with fully charged ones, avoiding prolonged stops and ensuring continuity of field operations.

Agricultural machinery electrification is advancing, but still faces a key challenge: ensuring long working hours without interruptions. To address this need, ZETRACK, in collaboration with AGRIA and IKERLAN, is developing its own battery management system (BMS) that enables quick battery swapping in electric agricultural and industrial vehicles.

With this project, AGRIA ZE and its partners are moving towards a more efficient, sustainable agricultural machinery model adapted to the real demands of the field. The ability to swap batteries quickly translates into increased operating hours and a significant reduction in emissions, without compromising productivity.

This year, now well into spring, will undoubtedly be very significant for the company. The challenges Zetrack faces in 2025 are the result of the hard work of innovation, design, and development carried out in previous years, striving to continually improve the product and always in collaboration with the best collaborators.

2024 was particularly fruitful for Zetrack E-Farming. The company presented prototypes of the first electric, autonomous agricultural vehicle designed and manufactured in Spain. One of them, at the invitation of EIT Food, was shown at the 7th Datagri Forum to promote digital transformation in the agri-food sector, which took place in November.

To carry out this development, Zetrack had the support of Quipplan, an investment partner with experience in product and prototype development, and the capabilities of collaborators such as the technological centers of the Basque Science and Technology Network and its technological partner Digital Workbench.

Subsequently, with the support of companies in the sector such as Actiture Dos Mil, J.F. Arriezu, Garaia Koop. or Virto, with which Zetrack develops some of its projects, and within the framework of the Test Farms program of the European organization EIT Food, field tests will begin to develop use cases in special crops, vegetables and woody crops.

Market the product

Once the improvements have been identified, they will be incorporated into future versions with a view to marketing the “first self-propelled agricultural vehicle made in Spain,” as it was dubbed at the Datagri Forum.

With the aim of becoming a leader in the field of robotics and electrification of agricultural machinery, the Zetrack team, which will continue to grow this year in response to the company’s demands, has the most advanced technological and production resources on the market.

Zetrack customers, a new generation of farmers committed to professional, sustainable, and automated management of their work, will see significant improvements in efficiency and energy costs thanks to, among other advantages, the use of interchangeable batteries, taking the user experience to a new level.

A shared project

The combined efforts are reflected in the multiple tasks carried out by the company with the help of different actors.

It has done so, alongside renowned collaborators in the sector, such as its own partner, Agria Hispania, in the Auto AVS project (Autonomous Agricultural Vehicle Solutions, ZL 2024/00318), co-financed by the Basque Government’s Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment through the Hazitek programme and by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).

Programs such as Ekintzaile+ and Fast Track Innobideak have reaffirmed or demonstrated their support for the project for the first time, given its high development prospects and commitment to recruiting talent, in the former case, and its goal of supporting the final stages of testing, demonstrations, pilots, trials, and improvements in real-world environments, in the latter.

NEOTEC’s support, which will help the company implement the final phase of the prototype’s robotics system, has positioned Zetrack among the best proposals submitted in 2024, among the sixty chosen out of 450 submitted, and being the first of only two Agritech projects approved.

Finally, and reflecting this common European commitment to the transition toward a more sustainable digital infrastructure, paving the way for cleaner energy and more efficient use of resources, Zetrack is participating alongside 50 other partners from across Europe in the O-CEI project, within the Horizon Europe program, specifically in Pilot 6. O-CEI seeks to create an open platform with a strong focus on interoperability, security, and reliability, facilitating collaboration and data exchange across different sectors in real time. This will enable faster and more accurate predictions about energy flexibility, helping consumers better adapt to energy demand.

Zetrack’s participation in this project aims to optimize energy consumption in agricultural industries, thereby contributing to the energy transition in agriculture.

Last year 2024 we participated, together with Agria Hispania, in a new annual installment of the Auto AVS project “Autonomous Agricultural Vehicle Solutions” (ZL-2024/00318) co-financed by the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government through the Hazitek program and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union.

The ultimate goal of this project is to address identified needs in the agricultural sector to improve productivity, increase efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. To this end, the AutoAVS project will work on the design and development of a new data mining kit and platform for autonomous driving, enabling precision agriculture and providing an opportunity to contribute to the mechanization of agricultural work and the transformation of the sector through the introduction of information technologies based on automated, flexible, and connected farm management.

The ZEET project, promoted by the consortium of companies led by AGRIA HISPANIA, S.L. and AGRIA ZERO EMISSIONS, S.L., has had as its main objective the development of a new model of zero-emission electric agricultural vehicle, contributing to the reduction of the environmental impact of the agricultural sector.

The ZEET project is aligned with the sector’s electric mobility and decarbonization strategy, responding to the need to extend the use of the latest technologies to agricultural vehicles.

The objectives that the consortium has set for this project include:

• The design of a zero-emission connected electric agricultural vehicle platform, contributing to reducing the carbon footprint in the agricultural sector.
• The design of a digital management platform for optimizing the agricultural vehicle’s energy efficiency and its interaction with the environment.
• Contributing to the development of digital agriculture: promoting sustainability and efficiency in the sector.
• To study the pre-industrialization of the electric agricultural vehicle based on the implemented prototype and validation results.

As a result of this project, in which the consortium has committed to innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector, a zero-emission electric agricultural vehicle prototype has been developed. It is powered by a rechargeable battery system, ready to operate with most implements used in the agricultural and gardening sectors, and connected to a digital cloud platform for efficient energy management and vehicle operations.

The ZEET project, file PR-MOVSING2-INV-2021-0292, has been awarded €387,500 in grants, out of a total budget of €970,000, for its participation in the incentive program for unique electric mobility projects (MOVES Unique Projects II Program), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

The 7th Datagri Forum to promote digital transformation in the agri-food sector, which took place at La Vega Innova in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid), successfully hosted the presentation of one of the prototypes of this electric and autonomous robotractor.

The VII Datagri Forum held on November 13 and 14 in the Community of Madrid witnessed the unveiling of the electric and autonomous agricultural vehicle from Zetrack. In record development time, our machine has obtained very promising results. The uses of its agricultural model are similar to those of a conventional tractor with a power of up to 60 HP. Like any other, it can pull conventional implements – hydraulic, mechanical and electric -, a trailer, a loader or insert ventral implements in the center of the machine, but it has other added advantages. With a driving position and remote control, it will also have the option, in subsequent versions, to operate in autonomous mode. Like any other conventional electric vehicle, it hardly makes any noise, minimizes maintenance costs and its batteries are easily removable.

With the support of various companies in the sector such as Actiture Dos Mil, J.F. Arriezu, Garaia Koop. or Virto, with which ZETRACK has signed letters of intent and within the framework of the Test Farms programme of the European organisation EIT Food, field tests will begin in the coming months to develop pilot projects and use cases in special crops, vegetables and woody crops. Once the tests have been carried out, the improvements that should be incorporated into future versions will be identified with a view to a future marketable self-propelled agricultural vehicle that would reach the market at the end of 2025.

To carry out this development, ZETRACK has counted on the collaboration of QUIPPLAN, also an investment partner of ZETRACK and which has a team with extensive experience in the development of products and prototypes and which provides a multidisciplinary approach and a comprehensive vision of the elements and systems that make up an electric agricultural vehicle.

To take the next steps toward automation and the integration of precision agriculture capabilities, ZETRACK relies not only on its own capabilities but also on those of its partners, such as the Technology Centers of the Basque Science and Technology Network and its digital technology partner, WORKBENCH. To this end, ZETRACK has received grants from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and various programs of the Basque Government, the Spanish Government, and the European Union, which have thus recognized ZETRACK’s efforts in creating value and its contribution to the ecological and digital transition of agriculture. ZETRACK has signed an agreement with DIGITAL WORKBENCH GMBH (DIWO) for the exclusive marketing in Spain of its agricultural robot TIPARD 1800, recently chosen “Robot of the Year” by visitors to FIRA 2024, an international agricultural robotics fair held in the town. French from Toulouse.

The TIPARD 1800 is a flexible and multipurpose agricultural robot that allows the integration of different implements for the different phases of horticultural crops: cultivation, sowing, weed management, harvesting, etc. Especially indicated for farms growing organic crops, it is also of interest to research centers or universities as an agricultural robot for experimentation and development of new precision agriculture and automation techniques.

With the Tipard 1800, digitalization and automation in agriculture reaches the next level, as it is an autonomous multi-operator platform for the automation of complete processes, ranging from sowing and fertilization to weed and pest control.

Another characteristic of the Tipard 1800 is its manageability. Thanks to a maximum weight of 2.6 tonnes and compact dimensions, it can be transported with a standard construction machinery trailer and the corresponding towing vehicle.

The commercialization of this machine represents, on the one hand, a response to the challenge of the lack of labor in the field, since it allows repetitive tasks to be automated, and on the other, an incentive for new generations of farmers, more inclined to technification and digitalization of agricultural tasks. ZETRACK thus supports the retention and development of talent in rural environments.

At the same time, ZETRACK is developing its own agricultural vehicle, still in the prototype phase, which will hit the market in 2025 but will also extend this agreement with DIWO to future technology transfer projects or joint development of new products. In this way, ZETRACK wants to be a reference in Spain in automation solutions for special crops.

The future of agricultural machinery

Currently, agriculture faces great challenges such as adaptation to increasingly demanding regulation on the quality and sustainability of agricultural processes, scarcity and difficulty in ensuring a stable workforce and rapid technological changes and digitalization to gain efficiency.

Spain is a leader in specialty crops. In Europe, more than half of producers cite labor shortages as their main challenge and 85% believe that labor costs, which represent more than 50% of production, will increase in the next three to five years between 10 and 30%.

On the other hand, the demand for certified organic farming products increases and management models evolve due to greater integration of the supply chain and decision centers: specialized operators, larger extensions and intensive crops, cooperatives, processing companies, distribution and funds. investment

All of this leads to a clear trend towards improving productivity through automation and caring for and improving the comprehensive sustainability of processes, including decarbonization.

Weeding, planting, pruning or harvesting are some activities with the most potential for automation among specialty crop producers and demand and investment in automating these processes continues to increase.

To respond to these needs, in addition to traditional machinery manufacturers, a new segment of companies is emerging that provide solutions adapted to new technologies, mainly through the use of drones and zero-emission agricultural robots.

ZETRACK eFarming aspires to soon belong to this group of emerging companies thanks to its autonomous robot agricultural vehicles and contribute to Spain having an Agrotech sector at the height of its global role in special crops.

Seed Capital Bizkaia, new partner, and Basque, FCR fund managed by Gestión de Capital Riesgo del País Vasco have joined the open investment round with a capital contribution and a convertible loan that brings ZETRACK’s new funds to a total of 930,000 €. Participation in the AutoAVS project

BlueZE Project Conclusion

In the middle of last year we successfully completed the BlueZE project, within the European DIH-WORLD initiative, where a first version of a weed detection algorithm has been developed, having been tested with results of 98% success on farms. real, in Peralta.

In both projects, we have had the collaboration of the Vicomtech Technology Center, a benchmark in the development of artificial vision and autonomous navigation solutions.

MOVES Singulars and other projects

In 2024 we plan to carry out new tests, among others with the companies Actiture Bio, Garaia Koop or Arriezu, all of them producers committed to organic farming and to productivity and innovation in their crops and processes.

It is essential that the applications of this new intelligent machinery to crops are developed in collaboration with future clients who know their needs well and with implement manufacturers who facilitate its integration into the ZETRACK prototypes to carry out tests and refine the use and its results.

The first prototype will be completed in the coming months and is developed within the framework of the MOVES SINGULARES II program of the IDAE, Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving. The technical project is led by our partner QUIPPLAN.

The objective is to provide our clients with solutions with intelligent and connected machinery for a more sustainable, ecological and efficient agriculture, thanks to automation and electrification, including recharging with renewable energy adapted to each situation, so that the machinery has the necessary autonomy. producing zero emissions.

On January 26, our CEO, Carlos Bergera, was invited to speak at a working session organized by the Navarran think tank Institución Futuro. The event, held in the format of a luncheon discussion, took place at the Nuevo Casino Principal in Pamplona.
